STUDENTS BUILDING THE ABOLITIONIST MOVEMENT

FIRST ANNUAL ADVOCACY DAY!

Students with John Stivers, Senior Staff Member for Speaker Pelosi.

This October 150 Abolitionists students from over 24 different States gathered in Washington, DC to advocate on behalf of the 27 million people in slavery around the world.

Not For Sale advocates were welcomed at Georgetown University by United States Ambassador Lagon. Music performances by artist Brant Christopher and presentations by NFS staff and the Ricky Martin foundation both educated and inspired everyone in attendance! Together we learned about the numerous fronts on which the Not For Sale movement is happening to fight slavery, while engaging in breakout sessions and small group dialog with other Abolitionists.

If you missed Advocacy Days don’t worry there is still things that you can do! Trafficking victims need your help! Contact your local Representatives and urge them to become a Co-sponsor of the TVPRA.

Consider setting up a meeting with one of your Congressional Representatives. You'll be amazed at the power of a conversation, and how much opportunity you have to speak on behalf of those in bondage!

It is our great pleasure to announce the official launch of the Not for Sale High School DOWNLOAD (print version) the Not for Sale High School Toolkit and join the Abolitionist movement TODAY.

You are never too young to become an abolitionist.

PEACE, LOVE DANCE

After hearing about the Not For Sale Campaign and the work it’s doing to end modern-day slavery, student leaders at Raytown High School in Kansas City decided to have their dance be abolitionist themed. The students decorated their gym with various photos of famous abolitionists and facts about modern-day slavery. The students chose three non-profits, one of which was the NFS campaign, to donate the funds from their dance to. In doing this, the student leaders at Raytown introduced their school to human trafficking while also raising funds to help support various non-profits working to end it. The kid’s efforts at Raytown South High School were so impressive that the “Kansas City Star” ran an article covering the great work of these students.
